PVU per Core

FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R1 (On-Premises Edition)

This column is only ever available for IBM PVU licenses, and furthermore is only available when FlexNet Manager Suite is responsible for sub-capacity calculations for that license type (see IBM PVU Scanning).

This value is the number of points for each core in (or assigned to) this inventory device. This value is copied directly from the PVU points rules published by IBM, taking into account all the factors (like manufacturer, device type, and so on) that influence the choice of the appropriate rule. The core count is then multiplied by this PVU per core factor to calculate the points consumed by this device.

In the case of a virtual host with a number of guest VMs, of which more than one may be running the licensed software, the core counts assigned to the affected VMs are added together (each one of the VMs is typically assigned fewer cores than the total capacity of the server, and hence the name "sub-capacity licensing"). If necessary, this total may be capped (or limited) by the total number of cores available in the host. The resulting core count is then multiplied by this PVU per core factor to give a total points consumed for the host (and all its relevant guests). The IBM PVU license is always applied at the host level.
