Deallocating Licenses

FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R1 (On-Premises Edition)
You should deallocate devices or users (depending on license type) from licenses when you no longer want to force consumption of entitlements from the linked licenses. Depending on the type of allocation, consumption may occur either:
  • Only when there is an installation (or usage) record for the appropriate application
  • Regardless of inventory results (because a Permanent allocation always consumes).
When you remove an allocation:
  • FlexNet Manager Suite also removes any exemptions set on the same device.
  • Matching installations no longer get priority in consuming from this license.
  • Matching installations may also consume from alternative licenses where available.
You can manage allocations individually through license properties (see Removing License Allocations).

To remove allocations for multiple users/devices in one operation, use the following process:

  1. Navigate to License Compliance > Apply Allocations and Exemptions (in the Licenses group).
  2. Use filters to find the desired allocation or installation record(s). See The Smart-Search Filter and Using Filters to Limit Data Size.
Tip: To see only the records with allocations (regardless of whether they are matched by installation records), filter the License's column Allocated for Yes .
Remember that if you want to reuse this set of records, you can use the Save view as... control to save this data set. In future you can simply open the saved view, and select all.
  3. Select the record(s) that you wish to deallocate from the linked license(s), and click Deallocate.
FlexNet Manager Suite displays the Deallocate from licenses section with the number of selected items displayed next to the Selected installations/allocations. If any of the selected items were not the subject of prior allocations, an alert displays that these items cannot be deallocated.
  4. Click Remove allocations to deallocate the selected record(s) from the linked license(s).
FlexNet Manager Suite displays a notification about the result of the action you just performed.
