To Use a Fly-Down

IT Asset Management (Cloud)
Searches cover every text-based column (not dates, and not purely numeric fields) currently displayed in the fly-down list that shows when you start your search. You can include (or exclude) a column from your search by moving it in from (or out to) the column chooser for the search results list. A choice like this remains in place for future use in your searches until you change it again.
Tip: Your search terms must be all found in any one of the columns displayed.
Important: The Fly-down always searches data that is already in your operations databases. For example, searching for a user name searches the records already imported into your operations databases, and does not gather user names directly from Active Directory.
  1. Enter some text in the search field. Searches are not case sensitive. (Leave the search field blank to list everything, but that may take longer and bring back far too many results to be useful.)
Tip: You must at least click in the search field to activate the Search button.
    You may use:
    • The start of words.

    • More than one (partial) word, separated by spaces. These match in any order, so that Wo Micr matches Microsoft Word. (You don’t need a wildcard at the end of a partial word, as they are supplied automatically.)

  2. Click the Search button (or press Return or Enter to complete your typing).

The area below the search field expands, and displays a list of results matching your search. As always, with the controls at top right of the list, you can filter the results, group them by any displayed column, or change which columns are visible.

Tip: If you change your mind and don't want to select any values, click the X close box in the top right corner of the search fly-down.
  3. Select the record(s) you want using one of the following methods:
    • For a single item, you may double-click the row in the list of search results.

    • For one or more items, select the check box at the left of each chosen row. When you are satisfied with the selections, click Add item(s) above the list.

The list of search results closes, and your selected value(s) are displayed. For a single-value field, the Search button disappears, making it easier to read the values you have selected.
Tip: To search again so that you can change the contents of a single-value field, just click in the field first to give it focus.
