Specifying that a Prerequisite Requires Administrative Privileges

InstallShield 2008

In the Windows Vista environment, end users typically run as standard users without administrative privileges. If a setup prerequisite requires administrative privileges, Windows Vista displays a User Account Control (UAC) prompt that requires end users to provide consent or credentials.

If your prerequisite does require administrative privileges or if you want the prerequisite to be installed per machine, you can specify that on the Behavior tab of the Setup Prerequisite Editor.
